COVID-19 UPDATES

Dec 27, 2021

Given what we currently know about COVID-19 and the Omicron variant, CDC is shortening the recommended time for isolation for the public. People with COVID-19 should isolate for 5 days and if they are asymptomatic or their symptoms are resolving (without fever for 24 hours), follow that by 5 days of wearing a mask when around others to minimize the risk of infecting people they encounter. The change is motivated by science demonstrating that the majority of SARS-CoV-2 transmission occurs early in the course of illness, generally in the 1-2 days prior to onset of symptoms and the 2-3 days after.

Additionally, CDC is updating the recommended quarantine period for anyone in the general public who is exposed to COVID-19. For people who are unvaccinated or are more than six months out from their second mRNA dose (or more than 2 months after the J&J vaccine) and not yet boosted, CDC now recommends quarantine for 5 days followed by strict mask use for an additional 5 days.

While the LPDC is taking all necessary precautions, we are going to have all of our dancer's ages 4 and up wear masks. This is not a full year policy. We will continue to monitor Dracut Covid numbers as everyone heads back to school and extra activites. Waiting rooms will be open to parents who have dancers 5 and under. Please limit the amount of extra family members.

November 1, 2020

As many of you may be aware, Governor Baker issued the "stay-at-home" advisory today which will go into effect on Friday, 11/6. First and foremost the LPDC WILL REMAIN OPEN! While the LPDC is taking all necessary (plus some additional) precautions we are going to start having all of our dancer's ages 5 and up wear masks throughout their class, something that our older students have been doing since the start of the year. We want to ensure that this is the safest place for you to bring your children and feel that this is the best way to go about that. If you are feeling uneasy about this we will be more than happy to go over our virtual option with you. As always please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.

SPORTS & RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES ALLOWED DURING PHASE III, STEP 1

  • For team and group sports, no more than 25 players or participants can be on a single playing surface/area/court at any one time.

  •  For indoor facilities: if an indoor facility has a chaperone or spectator viewing area which allows for at least six feet social distancing between spectators and the presence of spectators plus players/coaches as well as staff does not cause the facility to exceed more than 40% of the maximum occupancy for the indoor facility, then 1 spectator per player under 18 years old are allowed. Spectators must wear facial coverings and maintain six feet of social distance at all times. Operators are encouraged to mark off spectator/chaperone viewing sites to allow for social distancing.

The ability to participate in sports and recreation activities is determined by a combination of (1) risk of transmission of COVID-19 inherent in the sport or recreation activity itself and (2) level of risk associated with the “Type of Play”. In Phase III, Step 1, subject to the limitations and guidelines set forth below:

  • Sports and activities included in the Moderate Risk category can participate in Level 1, 2 and 3 type of play.

STANDARDS FOR SPORTS & RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES IN PHASE III, STEP 1

Examples: Baseball, softball, crew/sailing (2-3 people in a boat), track and field, cross country, running clubs, team swimming, volleyball, dance class, fencing, field hockey, no-contact lacrosse

Type of Play: The following types of play are defined by level from least to greatest risk.

  • Level 1: Individual or socially distanced group activities (no-contact workouts, aerobic conditioning, individual skill work, and drills)

  • Level 2: Competitive Practices (Intra-team/group games, contact drills and scrimmages)
